Kai Sung, M.D.
Dr. Kai Sung is Board Certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Internal Medicine. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases and advanced fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Brown University/ Rhode Island Hospital, under the supervision of the world renowned Dr. Alfred E. Buxton. Dr. Sung completed his Internal Medical Residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he graduated with Honors and Highest Distinction.
Dr. Sung specializes in Cardiac Electrophysiology. He has special interests in complex arrhythmia ablation and device implantation. Expertise includes ablation of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and ventricular tachycardia (VT), as well as the implantation of permanent pacemakers, defibrillators, and biventricular resynchronization heart failure devices. Dr. Sung is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.
Dr. Sung has in depth research experience regarding the pathogenesis of atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation, and treatment of heart failure using biventricular devices. He was awarded consecutive Dean’s Teaching Excellence Awards in Cardiology at the Brown University School of Medicine, and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Press Ganey, a renowned research firm, ranks Dr. Sung in the top 10th percentile in the country among physicians whose patients would recommend his practice to friends and family.
